David M. Levin is a shareholder with the law firm of Icard, Merrill, Cullis, Timm, Furen & Ginsburg, P.A. of Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch and Punta Gorda, Florida.  He limits his practice to environmental and waterfront property law, including waterfront property closings.

After receiving a B.S. degree in Biology from Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut in 1975 and serving as a biologist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mr. Levin earned his law degree from Cumberland School of Law, Birmingham, Alabama in 1979.

To further his training in environmental law, Mr. Levin attended the University of Miami School of Law, Miami, Florida, and earned the prestigious Master of Law (LL.M.) degree in Ocean and Coastal Law in 1980.

Prior to joining Icard/Merrill in 1987, Mr. Levin was Assistant General Counsel of the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation, Environmental Prosecutor for the State Attorney for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit (Sarasota, Manatee & Desoto Counties), and Assistant Director of the Sarasota County Legal Department.

Mr. Levin has also been involved in environmental rulemaking and administrative rule challenges, and has represented both public and private clients in environmental litigation before federal, state, and administrative tribunals.

Mr. Levin has authored several published articles on environmental law topics and is a frequent lecturer on the subject.
